I nearly set the date—
I always put great stock in astrology.
And with our planets so aligned
I moved with a false confidence.
My bouts with this affliction
have always been proper
and without pride or medicines.
My anticipation has been
the subject of many essays
in Gothic literary journals.
My disappearance provides little comfort
but I will heal and return
sometime before the Harvest Moon.
